Apichai Chatchalermkit Drives “Learning Through Travel” Concept with Little Champions on the Move
Mr. Apichai Chatchalermkit, Deputy Governor for Domestic Marketing of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), promotes the concept of “Learning Through Travel” through the project Little Champions on the Move – Move • Play • Explore
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) continues to drive Thailand’s tourism direction for 2026 under the concept of Thailand Tourism Next, emphasizing “Value Over Volume” by focusing on meaningful and high-quality travel experiences rather than simply increasing visitor numbers.
One of the key initiatives reflecting this vision is Little Champions on the Move, a family and youth tourism project designed to combine movement, play, and experiential learning through travel.
Travel as a Learning Experience Beyond the Classroom.
Apichai Chatchalermkit stated:
“Children today do not learn only from textbooks, but through real-life experiences. Travel — especially outdoor activities and movement — is an important tool that helps develop both physical abilities and life skills.”
The project has been carefully designed to encourage children and families to actively participate through hands-on activities, creative play, and real-world learning experiences.
Connecting Sports, Culture, and Wellness
The project is built around three main pillars:
Sport Traveling — encouraging movement, active lifestyles, and healthy living
Thai Culture Heritage Game — introducing Thai culture through creative and interactive activities
Food & Health — creating awareness of nutrition, local food culture, and healthy living
This approach transforms travel into a form of Holistic Travel, connecting physical well-being, emotional development, and family bonding.
“When children are able to participate, experience culture firsthand, and learn together with their families, travel becomes far more meaningful.”
Towards Sustainable Quality Tourism
In the long term, TAT hopes the project will help encourage quality tourism behavior, distribute income to local communities, and strengthen appreciation for Thailand’s cultural heritage.
“We place importance on the quality of experiences and what travelers take away from their journeys, rather than measuring success purely by numbers.”
Growing Together Through Travel
Apichai Chatchalermkit concluded:
“We hope people will see travel not only as leisure, but as an opportunity for both children and families to grow together. Every activity a child experiences becomes a valuable life lesson.”
